Kickstarter!

Kickstarter is a rapidly growing “crowd funding” site that showcases creative and ambitious projects.  Viewers can checkout info submitted by the projects’ organizers, and if they like what they see, they can pledge money to support the project.  They can either outright donate any amount, or purchase a “reward” offered by the project founders.  Rewards can be whatever the owners of the project decide, and can be priced anywhere between $1 and, well, unlimited.  Each project has between 1 and 90 days (again, at the discretion of the people organizing the project) to try and raise a funding goal.  If the goal is met, all those who donated/pledged have their cards charged by Amazon.  If the goal isn’t met, no one gets charged, and the project remains unfunded.

Change For A Billion’s measles documentary project was recently accepted to kickstarter, and we’ve been pecking away at constructing a pitch/video-teaser for the site’s users.  Well, after a lot of work, one motherboard meltdown, a week of lost time while waiting on parts, countless photos of people holding coins, and lots of sleepless nights, we’ve launched our kickstarter project.  We’re very excited to head to Africa, and it hardly seems possible that we could become more excited, but the possibility of further people involved with our project — contributing ideas, words of support, not to mention a few bucks … well, that does it!  Plus we’re offering one-of-a-kind postcards as a $15 reward for pledging to the film, various awesome laser-cut stuff, and super-secret-mystery-gifts; basically we took the chance to make up our own rewards and tried to figure out how off the beaten path we could go.
